Dundedin - Week 1

Greetings from Down Under!
Our trip began on Monday, Jan 31 when a snow storm was threatening out travel to the airport on Tuesday, Feb. 1 morning.  We were worried about Nichole making it back to Mankato after dropping us off at the airport. So -- problem solving began before we left our home in Mankato.  We called Land to Air and took the shuttle to the Comfort Inn on 494 near the airport. Tuesday, Feb.1  we took the hotel shuttle to the airport to begin the journey of our life - Departure time Noon, Feb. 1.

Jay and I arrived on Thursday, Feb. 3 around 2:30 PM in Dunedin after a 34 hours journey.  We arrived in summer and found Alison Meldrum from the University of Otago at the airport.  She had a car to take us to our temporary housing which is a one room studio at Living Space in the heart of the city and onlye 3-5 blocks from the university.

We found the studio apartment excellent - very clean and good space to crash.  Thanks to Alison, we had a gift of fresh fruit, bread, honey, coffee, tea, and cookies.  What else could anyone need?  Ah -- a nice long hot shower and sleep.
